Add flags, tasks and notes for a student in class
The flags, tasks and notes show on the student's card for today's class, and each observation is saved to the student's record with your name and the time.

A student just told the teacher they're stuck on a new concept, and you want the next teacher at the table to know. The student's panel in Live Class holds everything for today's class: flags, checklist tasks, notes for the teacher, and your observations.
Steps
Open the student's panel
- On Live Class, open the student's row and tap their card. Their panel opens beside the row (it fills the screen on a phone). Under During Class you'll see any notes for the teacher, flags and checklist tasks already set for today.
Add flags, tasks or a note
- Tap + Add classroom item. The window opens with today's items already selected.
- Choose what this student needs today:
- Under Class Prep Flags, tap a flag to turn it on or off.
- Under Teacher Checklist, tick the tasks for today. To add your own, type in Custom task... and tap Add.
- Under Note for Teacher, write anything the teacher should know.
- Tap Save Plan.
Check things off during class
- When a flag has been dealt with, tap it on the card or in the panel. It turns gray and is crossed out. Tap it again to turn it back on.
- When a checklist task is done, tap it to check it. Tap again to uncheck it.
- When you've read and acted on a note for the teacher, tap Mark done under it. It now shows DONE.
Save an observation
- Under Classroom Observations, type in Add observation note.... If a manager should follow up, tick Needs management attention.
- Tap Save Note. You'll see "Note saved", and the note appears in the list below with your name and the time.
What happens next
Flags and checklist tasks show on the student's card in the row. While any note for the teacher isn't marked done, the card shows a small flag in its corner.
To take a flag or task off the card completely, open + Add classroom item, untick it, and tap Save Plan. Tapping it on the card only marks it done.
An observation stays on the student's record and also shows on their student profile. An observation with Needs management attention also creates a Management Attention task in the Inbox. It goes to the staff chosen for it in Settings › Staff Automations. If nobody is chosen there, it goes to your instruction manager and center owner. If that automation is turned off, no task is created.
Tip: Next to each flag and checklist task is a pin. Tap it to repeat that item every visit for this student, until you tap the pin again.
Important: Unticking a test in + Add classroom item doesn't cancel it. The test stays on the student's card. To cancel a test, turn it off in the Testing box in the student's panel.
Note: A note marked done can't be marked undone in Live Class. Write a new note in Note for Teacher if it's still needed.
Note: You can edit an observation with the pencil, or delete it with the trash can and then Yes. These only show on your own observations, unless you have Full Access or Manage. An edited observation shows (edited).
If something goes wrong
You don't see + Add classroom item. Your access level doesn't have Add Items under Live Class. Ask a manager to turn it on in Settings › Permissions.
"Still connecting to your sign-in." The app is still loading your sign-in. Your note is safe. Tap Save Note again in a moment.
"Your sign-in is not linked to a staff record." The note can't be saved under your name. Sign out and back in. If it keeps happening, tell an owner.
"Failed to save. Please try again." A flag or task change didn't save, and the card went back to how it was. Tap it again.
"Failed to save note. Please try again." The observation didn't save. Your words are still in the box, so tap Save Note again.
"No items assigned". The student has no flags or checklist tasks for today. Tap + Add classroom item to add some.
